Technology

Technology for my group really helped us in many ways. When everyone has a different schedule in their lives it is hard to meet outside of the classroom, so email and blackboard was used to communicate with each other. By using this technology we were also able to keep each other updated on the progress of each person or of any last minute meetings that would be important for the group. We never used virtual meetings but I think using that would limit some benefits of actual face to face group discussions.

Ethics

When looking over the document in class, I was a little shocked that document was actually stating about human beings. The way the person was describing the problem and objects inside the truck, that was the first thing that came to my mind but I thought that was not possible. The way he described things was to the point only the person who he was writing to would actually understand. The other situations that we discussed in class were also similar. By writing this way, I feel as if the person or the company is trying to hide information from the public or maybe this is a way for them to justify the situation in their minds.

Writing like this is not right but it is bad that it could still be going on today. Personally I would not set my standards this low just to hide something or make it seem right. I would not want someone harming the public, my family, or myself.

Miscommunication

Miscommunication happens everywhere from at home, at school, and at work. The times when there is usually always miscommunication is between group members in a class. Trying to get meeting times, assigning parts for projects, or just trying to get the project done is a hard process because no one can get information together. If there is better communication between group members, things will go a whole lot smoother.

Presentations and Portfolios

On Wednesday, all of the presentations were good but the most interesting presentations was the one about Autism and the other about the architecture major and their travels. The Autism presentation informed me on alot about autistic children, the symptoms, and the treatments. This presentation was very effective on getting the message out because it was informative and the use of the statistics really helped. I enjoyed the other presentation on the Architecture major and their travels because I never realized the many things that Clemson had around the world. The pictures were also a plus.

When it comes to portfolios, I do not have too much experience except from freshman year, and that really was not that great. I did not know what I was doing or what was really expected, it was basically a confusing situation. I already know a few things about portfolios but hopefully this class will increase my knowledge and skills.

Presentations

My favorite presentation was the one on Asian Stereotypes. It was really suprising because alot of the things that were stated I have never heard of before. I liked the way it was presented because if was more of an informing comedy presentation. I also enjoyed the videos that he had for each fact. Overall, all of the presentations were good and informing. I even learned that we had a State dog which was suprising!

Coverletter

By reading the website's tutorial about writing coverletters it was very useful but also suprising. They say the coverletter should market yourself towards a specific job. By reading the sample coverletter, they made it seem like you should be very very confident in yourself when writing the coverletter but it seemed like a little bit much to me. There was no specific part of the tutorial that was more helpful than the others because I never really understood fully on how to write coverletters. The more help the better.

Client Visit

The client visit was informing because I really had no idea what was the basis of the project. Even though we recieved the information, it is still kind of hard to figure out exactly what we want to do and how we are going to reach that goal. My group is planning on working with the organic farm and trying to market it to the students and the community. Overall, I think the group is doing okay, but once we figure out what our goal is for the project it go a whole lot smoother. The biggest concern for the group is not being able to come up with any ideas or to have limited communication within the group. I really cannot think of any questions to ask at this point but I'm pretty sure I will soon.
